How Long Does Interior Painting Take?

Real timeline expectations for every common project size.

TL;DR

One bedroom: 1 day. Whole main floor: 2–3 days. Full 3-bedroom home interior: 5–10 working days. Add 1–2 days for cabinet refinishing.

By project size

  • Single bedroom (walls + ceiling + trim): 1 day with a 2-person crew
  • Master bedroom + ensuite: 1.5–2 days
  • Kitchen (walls only, no cabinets): 1 day
  • Open-concept main floor: 2–3 days
  • Full 3-bedroom home interior: 5–8 days
  • Full 4+ bedroom home with detailed trim: 8–14 days
  • Cabinet refinishing (standard kitchen): 5–7 days including shop time

Why some quotes are 'one day' and others are five

  • A one-day quote for a full main floor usually means: one coat, no prep, no protection, and a sub-contracted crew rushing to the next job.
  • Proper prep alone is 40–60% of a paint job's time. A real timeline reflects that.

Living in the home during the project

  • Most clients stay in the home during interior projects. We work room-by-room so you always have a livable space.
  • Low-VOC paint means rooms are safe to re-occupy within hours, not days.
  • Kitchen-out-of-service time during cabinet refinishing: typically 5 days.

Common questions.

Yes, by request. Standard crews work Mon–Sat, 7am–6pm.
